As most of you know, we are enjoying our first visit to the US since moving to Ethiopia back in the beginning 2015. God has blessed us so far with a great time of visiting with family, friends and supporters. We have been able to enjoy the beautiful Oregon coast, spend time with our home church, get medical care and counseling, and just enjoy simple things like driving down the road without worrying about crashing into donkeys! We’re very grateful for this much-need rest.
Please pray for the nation of Ethiopia during this time! The Ethiopian government recently declared an official state of emergency throughout the country, and the US Embassy has asked all foreigners not to travel into Ethiopia if at all possible during the emergency period. Pray for peace to return to this beautiful country, and for the safety of our staff and team at Soddo Christian Hospital. Please also pray for wisdom during our time in the US, as we make decisions for the future.
Our current plan calls for us to return to Ethiopia in early 2017, but that plan is subject to many variables – the biggest being the current safety situation in the country.
Even as we spend a bit of time in the US, we want to continue to share with you about what God has been doing at the hospital, and specifically about leadership development that Brad has been able to facilitate with some of our key Ethiopian staff.
The boys got to go crabbing and caught 39 tasty crabs!!
Spending time catching up with friends
For peace, safety and resolution of the political conflict in Ethiopia. Please pray especially for the safety and welfare of the Ethiopian families in Soddo who are not involved in the conflict but who are being negatively impacted by it.
For wisdom for our family as we seek God’s direction for the future.
For rest and healing during our US visit.
For spiritual and leadership growth of the key Ethiopians we have invested in during the past two years, such as Lealem, Redehegn and Tadalech (featured in our last newsletter).
For protection and provision for Soddo Christian Hospital during this time of uncertainty and upheaval in Ethiopia.
